Abstract

The article dedicated to the centenary of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation. It examines the internal content and features of the Russian model of justice at the present historical stage. The constitutional foundations of Russian justice are disclosed in detail, special attention is paid to the principle of judicial independence. It is noted that the independence of the judiciary is strictly observed in practice.

The historical evolution of Russian justice is shown, including attention to the discussions and difficulties that took place during the adoption of specific laws in the field of judicial system and judicial proceedings. The significant contribution of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to the formation of the national unified judicial system and ensuring the stable work of the judiciary is emphasized. The directions of improving the Russian model of justice are revealed, in particular, among the promising ways of modernization are the expansion of simplified proceedings, the improvement of electronic justice, the development of administrative justice.

The long-term cooperation of the Supreme Court and the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law was noted. The scientific ideas of the Institute’s staff have been reflected more than once in the practical activities of the highest judicial instance. Researchers of the Institute take an active part in the preparation of resolutions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court, prepare opinions on draft laws, contributing to the uniformity of judicial practice. In turn, judges and employees of the Supreme Court staff regularly participate in the activities of the Institute and are involved in the preparation of its scientific publications.
