Abstract

The article discusses the problematic issues of the development of Russian legal education and science on the example of criminology. The emphasis in the study is on the fact that the causes of crime are interdisciplinary concepts, and this implies a new perception of the understanding of the fight against this negative phenomenon. Special attention is paid to the analysis of scientific and educational works devoted to the study of the main directions of criminology development, structural elements included in the subject of this legal discipline. The features of the modern development of criminology are highlighted with an emphasis on research conducted in the last twenty years.

The purpose of the study is to examine the history of criminology as an academic discipline and, using this example, to analyze issues related to general approaches to modern Russian legal education.

Research objectives: to analyze the results of scientific research previously conducted within the framework of the raised issues; to determine the prospects for further development of domestic legal education on the example of criminology.

Methodological basis of the research: dialectical method of cognition, general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, abstraction, special legal methods.

As a result of the conducted research, it is indicated that there is a need for a critical analysis of existing approaches to curricula and textbooks on jurisprudence. It is concluded that the hasty perception of education models adopted in other countries does not lead to an improvement in the quality of domestic education. Success in this direction can be achieved if, together with the education model, all other concomitant conditions under which this model operates are accepted, including the lifestyle in the relevant state and the way of thinking of students and students in this society (their priorities, goals and life attitudes).
