Abstract

The article is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the Russian Federation and devoted to the scientific legacy of Ivan T. Golyakov, an outstanding scientist, professor, Prosecutor of the RSFSR (1938), Chairman of the Supreme Court of the USSR (1938—1948) and director of the All-Union Institute of Legal Sciences of the Ministry of Justice of the USSR (1938—1956). The work reviews the scholar’s unique, little-known to the modern lawyer writings on court and justice in Russian and foreign literature. The author guides the reader through the gallery of “sins” of court and justice, colorfully drawn by I. T. Golyakov “in the margins” of works by famous Russian (I. T. Pososhkov, G. R. Derzhavin, I. A. Krylov, A. S. Pushkin and others) and foreign (A. Franz, T. Dreiser, Ch. Dickens, V. Hugo, Cervantes and others) writers.
